Machado’s career day leads O’s homer party
- Updated: August 7, 2016
CHICAGO — Sunday’s game belonged to Manny Machado.
Machado homered in each of the first three innings and drove in a career-high seven runs in Baltimore’s 10-2 win over the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. The victory, coupled with Toronto’s loss, gives the O’s sole possession of first place in the American League East by one game.

Machado’s home run off Matt Albers in the third made him the first Orioles batter since Davis in 2014 to turn in a three-homer game. Machado now has 25 homers on the season and eight career multihomer games.
O’s rookie starter Dylan Bundy went six innings, struck out nine and allowed two runs, including Jose Abreu’s sixth-inning solo homer. The White Sox also scored on Todd Frazier’s sacrifice fly in the fourth.
