Givens proves his mettle in Orioles’ loss

CHICAGO — Outings like Saturday’s show you exactly what Mychal Givens is made of.
Givens, called upon with two men on in relief of starter Chris Tillman, allowed the White Sox to take the lead on a bloop single, but he never let things get out of hand, striking out the next three batters to keep it close in Baltimore’s 4-2 series-evening loss.
“That was impressive,” Tillman said. “That was a big inning, to keep it to a one-run ballgame. These guys [in the bullpen] have been good all year. Tip your hat to them.”
