Mets, Reds close to deal to send Bruce to New York

The Mets and Reds are on the verge of completing a trade involving outfielder Jay Bruce, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.
Multiple reports pegged Cincinnati’s return haul as outfielder Brandon Nimmo and two other prospects. The deal is complete pending physicals, Jerry Cranick of ESPN.com reported.
Neither team has commented on or confirmed the reports. The non-waiver Trade Deadline is 4 p.m. ET today.
Bruce, 29, has spent all nine of his Major League seasons with the Reds and is a three-time National League All-Star. That included this season as he is batting .265/.316/.559 with 25 home runs and 80 RBIs — numbers that have him on pace to set career highs.
