Mets’ trade for Bruce reportedly on hold

NEW YORK — For the second straight season, the Mets are zeroing in on a blockbuster deal at the non-waiver Trade Deadline, but a medical issue may be holding up the trade.
The Mets were on the verge of acquiring Reds outfielder Jay Bruce, according to a person with knowledge of the deal, for a haul centering on outfielder Brandon Nimmo and two other prospects. But ESPN reported that an issue with Nimmo’s foot may be holding up the trade.
Bruce, 29, leads the National League with 80 RBIs in 97 games, thanks in large part to a .360 batting average with runners in scoring position — a significant bugaboo for the Mets’ current …
