Mets reportedly close to acquiring Bruce

The Mets and Reds are “on the verge” of completing a trade involving outfielder Jay Bruce, Buster Olney of ESPN is reporting. Neither team has commented on or confirmed the report.
Outfielder Brandon Nimmo and two lower-level prospects would be part of the trade, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported.
The non-waiver Trade Deadline is 4 p.m. ET today.
Bruce, 29, has spent all nine of his Major League seasons with the Reds and is a three-time National League All-Star. That included this season as he is batting .265/.316/.559 with 25 home runs and 80 RBIs — numbers that have him on pace to set …
