Halep defeats Keys to take Rogers Cup title

MONTREAL — Simona Halep of Romania defeated American Madison Keys 7-6 (2), 6-3 to win the $4.7 million women’s Rogers Cup on Sunday.
Halep, seeded fifth, rebounded from losing to Belinda Bencic in the final a year ago. It was the Romanian’s third tournament win this year and the 14th of her career.
She won $497,700, while Keys took home $241,840.
With the victory, Halep will jump to third in the WTA rankings. She has won 10 consecutive matches, including a victory at her home tournament two weeks ago in Bucharest.
