Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 generated positives and some negatives over the course of NASCAR’s longest race.
Martin Truex Jr. Domination doesn’t begin to describe the way Truex Jr. outdistanced the field on Sunday night. He set new marks for laps led (392) and miles in front (588) on his way to obliterating the competition. It was also one of the best stories of the year as Truex Jr. was finally able to get to Victory Lane and celebrate both his professional and personal accomplishments. Kevin Harvick Another second-place finish might not seem like much for Harvick fans but the way the 2014 champion was able to get to a runner-up performance was impressive. By his own admission Harvick had a top 10 car at best. But through several adjustments the 4 car got better as the night went on and Harvick had a “best in class” finish behind Truex Jr. Kurt Busch He kept his top-10 streak alive and remains near the front of the list of drivers knocking on the door of Victory Lane now that Truex Jr. finally got the monkey off his back.
