Tigers’ Shane Greene: Starter or reliever?

OAKLAND, Calif. — Heading into this weekend’s series against the Oakland Athletics, the biggest question surrounding injured pitcher Shane Greene seemed to be whether or not he’d need a third rehab start.
But Detroit Tigers bench coach Gene Lamont, who is assuming managerial duties with Brad Ausmus away dealing with a family issue, made an interesting revelation in Friday’s pregame media briefing: The Tigers are mulling whether to use him in the rotation or in the bullpen once he’s activated from the disabled list.
