Apple to anonymous scout: I can cook on field

Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple is a possible first-round draft pick. He has good size at 6-foot-1 and 199 pounds. He has great speed: Apple ran a 4.40-second 40 at the combine and clocked 4.34 at his pro day. He’s a good athlete and he has good ball skills.
He’s not the top cornerback in the draft, but he’s one of them. It’s very possible he’ll be a first-round pick on Thursday. One scout, though, is not sold.
Here’s how an anonymous scout described Apple to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Bob McGinn: “I worry about him because of off-the-field issues. The kid has no life skills. At all. Can’t cook. Just a baby. He’s not first round for me. He scares me to death.”
