Redskins land Norman

After only two days, it looks like the Josh Norman free-agency tour has come to an end. The free agent cornerback has agreed to a five-year, $75 million deal with the Washington Redskins, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora confirms. NFL.com initially reported the news.

The signing comes just two days after the Panthers surprisingly decided to rescind his franchise tag. Norman would’ve made $13.95 million under a one-year deal if he had signed the franchise tender, but he didn’t sign it because he wanted more money, and he got it from the Redskins.

The newly signed corner will be making an average of $15 million per year under his new deal. According FoxSports.com, Norman will make a total of $51 million over the first three years of the contract, with all $51 million coming in the form of guaranteed money.

If that sounds like a lot, that’s because it is.

Norman’s three-year total makes him the highest paid corner in the league.

The $15 million per year average is also tops in the league, just ahead of Darrelle Revis ($14.02 million per year), Patrick Peterson ($14.01 million per year) and Richard Sherman ($14 million per year).

Norman seemed pretty excited about the numbers.
