D-backs deal O’Brien to Royals for pitcher

PHOENIX — The D-backs acquired right-hander Sam Lewis from the Royals on Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Peter O’Brien.
O’Brien had been designated for assignment last week after the club claimed catcher Juan Graterol off waivers from the Reds.

The 25-year-old Lewis went a combined 3-1 with a 1.62 ERA in 17 appearances last season with Class A Lexington and Class A Wilmington. He also started three games on a rookie league rehab assignment.
