2016 Race-by-Race Results
Austin Dillon enjoyed the best season of his young Sprint Cup Series career in 2016 by making the Chase for the first time. Dillon completed his third full season with career numbers in top fives (4), top 10s (13), poles (2), average start (14.0) and average finish (15.9). He entered the Chase as the 15th seed and finished the year a career-best 14th in the final standings. “Your (top) goal going into the season is to make the Chase,” Dillon said. “Another goal was to win a race and that’s one we didn’t reach. Next year, that’s No. 1 – and that takes care of getting into the Chase. “I led laps this year and won poles. That’s a big thing for experience, putting yourself in that situation.
