The top NASCAR organizations all face several questions as they prepare for the 2017 season. Hendrick Motorsports The lingering questions about Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his health challenges will be the topic of discussion for Hendrick until fans actually see him climb back behind the wheel of the No. 88 ride. Earnhardt continues to insist he’s making progress and plans to answer the opening bell in 2017 at Daytona. Hendrick is moving ahead with that scenario but will they keep Alex Bowman in the fold as a back-up insurance policy? Joe Gibbs Racing An organization that won 12 times last season including the Daytona 500 and put all four of its drivers in the Chase would appear to have nothing to answer for 2017. But there was a palpable amount of friction between Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth at times last year, which leads to the question of whether internal strife might be something JGR management must deal with in the new season? Team Penske Roger Penske returns with a two-car tandem of Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski, who both made it to the Chase last year. Logano came within a whisker of giving Penske his second NASCAR top tier series title. There’s no reason to believe anything will change next season but will Keselowski be able to go deeper in the Chase than he did in 2016 before being eliminated from contention?
