Spence is still one fight away from title fight

Moments after welterweight Errol Spence Jr. finished knocking down former junior welterweight titleholder Chris Algieri for the third time and stopping him in the fifth round of a sensational performance on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, he turned his attention to the fight he hoped would be next.
“I’m the No. 1 contender to Kell Brook, so Kell Brook knows what time it is,” Spence said. “We got to get in the ring and fight.”
Spence, the 2015 ESPN.com prospect of the year, reiterated at the post-fight news conference that he wants the title shot against England’s Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) next and as soon as possible. Well, the 2012 U.S. Olympian from DeSoto, Texas got a rude awakening on Tuesday: He won’t be the next mandatory challenger for Spence. Not unless he wins another fight first.
