Greece – A2 Round 3: Leader AE Larissas get another victory

TheodorosTsiloulis Round 3 means everything may happen in A2 as the season just started. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games.AE Larissas delivered the third consecutive win on Saturday night. This time they crushed Arkadikos (0-3) 90-56. The game without a history. AE Larissas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Arkadikos’ 22 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. AE Larissas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Arkadikos’ players. The best player for the winners was guard Theodoros Tsiloulis (190-93) who scored 16 points and 4 assists. Swingman Giannis Papachristos (190-80) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Savvas Tsougarakis (207-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Important game to mention about took place in Athens. Ethnikos (2-1) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging Pagrati (1-2) 81-80 on Saturday evening. It was a good game for power forward Anastasios Antonakis (205-92) who saved his team from a defeat with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Kostas Macheras contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Forward Christodoulos Karavolas (197-83, agency: Court Side) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds for Pagrati. Pagrati’s coach tried various players’ combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Ethnikos will play against Irakleio (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Pagrati’s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panionios. A very close game took place in Astakou between Aiolos Astakou and Amyntas Dafnis. Aiolos Astakou (2-1) got a very close home victory over Amyntas Dafnis (1-2). Aiolos Astakou managed to escape with a 2-point win 71-69 on Saturday evening. It was a great evening for Vassilis Kitsoulis who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Christos Barbas with 16 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Aiolos Astakou will meet Holargos (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Amyntas Dafnis will play against Faros (#3) and hope to win that game. A very interesting game took place in Pefkon. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of Holargos (0-3) to Doxa Pefkon (1-2) 73-71 on Saturday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Karamo Jawara who led the winners and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Doxa Pefkon’s next round opponent will be Arkadikos (#13) in Arkadia which should be theoretically an easy game. Holargos will play at home against Aiolos Astakou and hopes to get finally their first victory.Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Panionios (#5) and Psyhiko (#16). Psyhiko was crushed at home by 16 points 66-82. The best player for the winners was Nikos Barlos who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Panionios’ supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Pagrati. Other games of round 3 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are: GS Larissas lost to undefeated Iraklis in Thessaloniki 72-80. Irakleio lost to Doukas at home 75-86. Faros won against Kavala on the opponent’s court 73-64. The best stats of 3rd round was 13 points and 8 rebounds by Stefan Djordjevic of Faros.Doxa Pefkon – Holargos 73-71A very interesting game took place in Pefkon. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of Holargos (0-3) to Doxa Pefkon (1-2) 73-71 on Saturday evening. Holargos was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 24-15 third quarter run of Doxa Pefkon. They made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Holargos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for Norwegian forward Karamo Jawara (203-91, college: N.C.Central) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Dimitris Kalampakas (202-89) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Naturalized Serbian guard Igor Milosevic (193-86, agency: BeoBasket) came up with 19 points and 5 assists and center Apostolos Koutroulias (206-76) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Holargos in the defeat.
