Slovenia – 2SKL Round 1: Elektra loses to Ilirija

GoranJagodnik The Regular Season in 2SKL just started. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Elektra (0-1) in Ljubljana on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Ilirija (1-0) 88-56. The game without a history. Ilirija led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Elektra’s 34. Ilirija forced 25 Elektra turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Rade Rodic (-94) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Goran Jagodnik (202-74, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Sanel Bajramlic (198-85) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ilirija is looking forward to face Parklji (#11) in Bezigrad in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Elektra will play at home against Grosuplje (#10) and is hoping to win this game. Celje won a double-overtime thriller against Grosuplje by eight points 90-82. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Tadej Kostomaj (187-87) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Ilija Zolotic contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Matic Sirnik (198-91) answered with 19 points and 7 rebounds for Grosuplje. Celje will play against Crnomelj (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Grosuplje will play against Elektra in Sostanj and it may be a tough game between close rivals. In the last game of round 1 Konjice defeated Pingvini in a road game 82-71. Parklji lost to Sezana at home 60-78. Crnomelj lost to Triglav on the opponent’s court 68-75. Branik lost to Plama Pur in a home game 53-92.
