Switzerland – LNA Round 2: Boncourt loses to Fribourg

Derek Wright There were only 2 rounds played so far and it’s still very beginning of the Regular Season in LNA. Boncourt (1-1) recorded a loss on the court of Fribourg on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Fribourg 88-66. The game was mostly controlled by Fribourg. Boncourt managed to win fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fribourg forced 21 Boncourt turnovers. The best player for the winners was American point guard Derek Wright (179-86, college: Austin Peay St.) who scored 18 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. The other American import forward Travis Taylor (203-90, college: Xavier) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Fribourg’s coach Petar Aleksic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Kinu Rochford (195-90, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: HMS) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Fribourg is looking forward to face Lausanne (#9) on the road in the next round. Boncourt will play against Geneve Lions (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are: Swiss Central lost to undefeated Starwings in Basel 59-63. Geneve Lions smashed Lausanne at home 74-54. Lugano Tigers won against Neuchatel on the opponent’s court 74-58. Winless Winterthur lost to undefeated Monthey in a home game 68-85.
