The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Leeuwarden (1-1) on the court of Zwolle on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Zwolle 75-54. The game without a history. Zwolle led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Leeuwarden to just 4 points in fourth quarter. Zwolle dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Leeuwarden’s 28. They outrebounded Leeuwarden 38-24 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward J.T. Yoho (198-93, college: Wright St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who scored 19 points. The former international center Nick Oudendag (210-87) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. The former international power forward Craig Osaikhwuwuomwan (211-90) produced 8 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zwolle is looking forward to face Dukes UDB (#7) in Den Bosch in the next round where they are favorite. Leeuwarden will play at home against Leiden and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Important game to mention about took place in Rotterdam. Rotterdam (1-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging Dukes UDB (0-2) 74-71 on Saturday evening. American guard Anthlon Bell (190-93, college: Arkansas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Sam Van Dijk contributed with 8 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international forward Stefan Wessels (203-84) replied with 21 points and 8 rebounds for Dukes UDB. Rotterdam will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dukes UDB will play at home against Zwolle (#3) to get more than just one victory in their record. The game in Amsterdam supposed to be also quite interesting. Groningen (2-0) played at the court of Amsterdam (0-2). Groningen smashed Amsterdam 97-65 on Saturday. Lance Jeter scored 27 points and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Groningen’s coach Erik Braal felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sergio de Randamie responded with 26 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Groningen will meet Weert (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Amsterdam will have a break next round. In the last game of round 2 Weert lost to Leiden in a road game 53-64.
