The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Ryazan (2-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Irkut Irkutsk (3-0) 89-63. Irkut Irkutsk’s coach Aleksei Lobanov felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Viktor Zaryazhko (195-92) who recorded 17 points and 5 rebounds. Irkut Irkutsk are looking forward to face Samara-SGEU (#4) on the road in the next round. Ryazan will play against Novosybirsk and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident. Important game to mention about took place in Surgut. Ural Ekaterinburg (2-0) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging Universitet-Yugra (0-3) 88-87 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It was a good game for point guard Andrei Kuzemkin (185-87, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who saved his team from a defeat with 17 points. Aleksei Komarov contributed with 13 points for the winners. Serbian Nikola Lepojevic (195-82, agency: BeoExcell) answered with 28 points for Universitet-Yugra. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ural Ekaterinburg will play against MBA Moscow (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Universitet-Yugra will play against TEMP-SUMZ Revda and hopes to get finally their first victory.We should mention about the upset which took place in Moscow, where TEMP-SUMZ Revda (1-1) lost to MBA Moscow (1-2) in a road game 74-79 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Alexei Kuznetsov who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Ivan Pavlov with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. MBA Moscow will meet at home Ural Ekaterinburg (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TEMP-SUMZ Revda will play against Universitet-Yugra in Surgut and hope to win that game. The game with biggest result difference took place in Vladivostok. Local Spartak-Prim. (1-1) outscored Urartu Yerevan (0-3) 109-59. It was a quality performance for Pavel Aghapov who led the winners and scored 27 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
