France – B.J. Monteiro claims French NM1 weekly honour

B.J.Monteiro American-Cape Verdean B.J. Monteiro (196-F/G-90) had a great game in the last round for Caen and that’s him to receive a Eurobasket.com NM1 Player of the Week award for round 4.The 26-year old swingman had the game-high 19 points adding six rebounds and eight assists for Caen in his team’s victory, helping them to beat Chartres (#14, 1-3) 101-90. Caen maintains the 4th position in French NM1. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost that single game earlier this season. Caen will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. In the team’s last game Monteiro had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Caen’s top player in his first season with the team. University of Duquesne graduate has very impressive stats this year. Monteiro is in league’s top in assists (5th best: 6.0apg) and averages solid 2.5spg and 61.8% FGP.The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was 27-year old American forward Demond Watt (200-F-89) of Angers BC.
