Czech Republic – NBL Round 3: Top-ranked BK Decin wins another game

TomasPomikalek There were just three rounds played in Regular Season of NBL and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. BK Decin (3-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed BK Lions Hradec (1-2) 93-69. BK Decin made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for the former international forward Tomas Pomikalek (200-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. The former international Jakub Houska (207-82) contributed with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American guard Malcolm Brooks (196-92, college: CS Fullerton) answered with 19 points for BK Lions Hradec. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BK Decin is looking forward to face USK Praha (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BK Lions Hradec will play against BK Opava and it may be a tough game between close rivals. The game in Praha supposed to be also worth to mention about. CEZ Nymburk (3-0) played at the court of USK Praha (1-2). CEZ Nymburk smashed USK Praha 100-56. It was a great evening for American guard Bryon Allen (193-92, college: George Mason) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Tony Meier helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was international swingman Jaromir Bohacik (197-92, agency: Octagon Europe) with 15 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CEZ Nymburk will play against BK Pardubice at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. USK Praha will play against BK Decin (#1) to get more than just one victory in their record. A very close game took place in Prostejov between Prostejov and BK Usti nad Labem. Prostejov (2-1) got a very close home victory over BK Usti nad Labem (1-2). Prostejov managed to escape with a 2-point win 92-90 on Saturday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Michal Norwa who led the winners and scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Prostejov’s coach Zbynek Choleva used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Ladislav Pecka came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for BK Usti nad Labem in the defeat. Prostejov will meet NH Ostrava (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BK Usti nad Labem will play against BK Kolin (#11) and hope to win that game. There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: winless MMCITE Brno was smashed by BK Opava on the road 84-61. Winless BK Kolin lost to undefeated BK Pardubice on its own court 83-96. NH Ostrava unfortunately lost to Svitavy in Svitavy 60-71.
