Norway – BLNO Round 1: Tromso loses to Froya Basket

IvanEmanuely The Regular Season in BLNO just started. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Tromso (0-1) in Laksevag on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Froya Basket (1-0) 82-64. The game was mostly controlled by Froya Basket. Tromso managed to win fourth quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Froya Basket outrebounded Tromso 40-28 including 26 on the defensive glass. French forward Ivan Emanuely (199-91) fired 9 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Arne Ingebrigtsen (197-90, college: Cuesta JC) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. Froya Basket’s coach Brent Hackman used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Hani Issalhi (191-84) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for lost side. Froya Basket is looking forward to face Ammerud Bskt (#6) in Oslo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tromso will play at home against Nidaros Jets (#5) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident. Another exciting game was played in Bekkestua between Centrum and Baerum Basket where Centrum (1-0) crushed Baerum Basket (0-1) on the road with 28-point difference 108-80. Worth to mention a great performance of American Torgrim Sommerfeldt (198-89, college: Manhattan) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Miilah Kombat contributed with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) answered with 26 points for Baerum Basket. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Centrum will play against Gimle BBK (#3) in Bergen in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Baerum Basket will play at home against Asker Aliens and it may be a tough game between close rivals. An interesting game took place in Oslo where Gimle BBK (1-0) edged by two points Ammerud Bskt (0-1) 78-76 on Saturday night. Ammerud Bskt was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. Gimle BBK will meet Centrum in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ammerud Bskt will play against Froya Basket (#2) and hope to win that game. We should not miss the game where Kongsberg (1-0) against Asker Aliens (0-1) where Kongsberg won on the road by nine points 82-73. It was a significant upset for the host team. Juan Ferrales nailed 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Kongsberg’s next round opponent will be Persbraten (#9) in Oslo and are hoping to win another game. Asker Aliens will play on the road against Baerum Basket in Bekkestua and it may be a tough game between close rivals. In the last game of round 1 Persbraten lost to Nidaros Jets in Tromdheim 50-71.
