France – NM1 Round 3: Vitre loses their first game against Union Rennes

LudovicNegrobar NM1 Regular Season is still in too early stage and there may be still significant changes in the standings. The most surprising game was a loss of Vitre (2-1) on the court of Union Rennes on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Union Rennes 70-63. Vitre trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 20-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 63-70 at the end of the game. It was a great evening for center Ludovic Negrobar (207-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 9 rebounds. Serbian swingman Vukan Zivkovic (199-91) helped adding 18 points. Union Rennes’ coach Pascal Thibaud used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Antoine Belkessa (186-88) with 10 points and 6 assists. Union Rennes is looking forward to face Angers BC (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vitre will play against Orchesien BC (#7) and is hoping to win this game. Quimper UJAP (3-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed CFBB (0-3) in Paris 87-44. It was a quality performance for Ukrainian forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (201-92) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Jahsha Bluntt accounted for 19 points. Forward Ivan Fevrier (200-99) came up with 10 points and 8 rebounds for CFBB in the defeat. CFBB’s coach Jean-Aime Toupane gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Quimper UJAP will play against Gries/Oberhoffen (#14) in Bischwiller in the next round which should be another easy win for them. CFBB will play on the road against Vendee Challans and hopes to get finally their first victory.Vendee Challans (#18) forced the game against Lorient (#8) into an overtime, but lost by three points 85-88 on Friday night. The best player for the winners was Mathieu Bigote who scored 25 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Demarco Cox who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. Lorient will meet Rueil (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vendee Challans will play against CFBB (#17) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.An interesting game took place in Orchies where Rueil (1-2) was upset on the court of Orchesien BC (2-1) 97-92. It was a good game for Benjamin Smith who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 9 assists. Orchesien BC’s next round opponent will be Vitre (#5) on the road. Rueil will play against Lorient (#4) and hope to win that game. There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 3: Angers BC lost to St Vallier on the opponent’s court 71-84. Caen outscored Lourdes in a home game 97-63. GET Vosges managed to beat Gries/Oberhoffen on the road 66-58. Chartres lost to Souffel on its own court 66-88. ALS Basket was smashed by SAP Vaucluse in Sorgues 68-90.
