Lawrie has to play full games before return

CHICAGO — Don’t look for Brett Lawrie to return from his rehab assignment with Double-A Birmingham until he can play deeper into games.
The White Sox second baseman left early from last Wednesday’s contest and departed after four innings Saturday in a return to the lineup. Lawrie has been battling a strained left hamstring but was said to have exited Wednesday’s contest with left quad soreness.
“He’s going to have to play a full game to be able to get back here and know you’re going to play,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. “Until he gets to that point where he can get enough of the innings that we need — and all our guys can do that, whether it’s [Avisail Garcia] or even when Alex [Avila] goes out — you’re going to have to be able to get through it a few times to feel like you can come back up here and get off the …
