Jardine thrilled with staying pair

Iain Jardine is optimistic one of his two smart staying handicappers, Shrewd and Nakeeta, will hit the bullseye in a big race before too long after the former finished second in the Betfred Ebor at York on Saturday.

It capped a frustrating meeting for Jardine as Nakeeta, who was just touched off in the Chester Cup in May, also had to settle for the runner-up spot in a two-mile handicap on the Knavesmire earlier in the week.

Jardine is eyeing the Betfred Cesarewitch for Nakeeta while Shrewd could go elsewhere …
