Holland targeting Tuesday return from DL

ST. PETERSBURG — The Rangers have tentatively scheduled Derek Holland to come off the disabled list and pitch on Tuesday against the Reds. Yu Darvish will be pushed back to Wednesday in the two-game Interleague set in Cincinnati.
Holland has been sidelined since June 20 because of inflammation in his left shoulder and has made three starts on a Minor League rehabilitation assignment. The final hurdle was a 39-pitch bullpen session on Saturday at Tropicana Field.
“If we are able to come out of that with no ill effects, we’re probably leaning toward him making that first start in Cincinnati,” Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. “We still have time between now and then. He still has to hit all the measures, but he’s the front-runner.
“When a guy is on the disabled list and working his way through the rehabilitation process, even up until game time you are going to have somebody in reserve.”
Darvish last pitched on Wednesday night in Arlington and will be pitching on six days’ rest. But the Rangers wanted …
