Rangers nearing deal with veteran outfielder Gomez

ST. PETERSBURG — The Rangers are wrapping up a Minor League contract with veteran outfielder Carlos Gomez, who was released by the Astros this week, sources confirmed on Saturday. The club has not confirmed the signing, but an announcement is expected this weekend.
Gomez will likely play at Triple-A Round Rock before being called up to the Rangers.
Gomez is a 10-year veteran, two-time All-Star and Gold Glove outfielder, but was hitting .210 with a .272 on-base percentage and a .322 slugging percentage. …
