Historic Olympic bronze for Nile Wilson and Amy Tinkler

Great Britain’s Nile Wilson and Amy Tinkler have taken sensational bronze medals in the Olympic high bar and floor finals in Rio.
Great Britain had never won a medal in either the women’s floor or men’s high bar final at an Olympic Games, making it another historic evening of gymnastics for GB.
16-year-old Amy Tinkler, Team GB’s youngest member, took to the floor and performed the routine of her life. She nailed every landing to score 14.933 and take bronze behind the USA’s Simone Biles (15.966) and Aly Raisman (15.500). Amy, who collects her GCSE results when she gets off the plane from Rio, joins gymnastics legend Beth Tweddle MBE to become the only other British female to win an individual gymnastics medal at an Olympic Games.
20-year-old Nile Wilson was the final British gymnast to compete in Rio in the high bar final. Up against more senior and experienced gymnasts, Nile held his own and performed an incredible routine to score a big 15.466. It was a nail biting wait to see if he would stay in medal contention but he hung in there and took the bronze behind Germany’s Fabian Hambuechen (15.766) and the USA’s Danell …
