McCarthy heads to DL as pitching woes continue

LOS ANGELES — On Sunday alone, Brandon McCarthy went back on the disabled list, Brett Anderson came off the disabled list to pitch one inning in an 11-3 loss to the Pirates and finished the day with a brace on his sprained left wrist, and Rich Hill’s Dodgers debut was pushed back for the umpteenth time by lingering finger blisters.
Just another day for the Dodgers’ pitching staff, which saw reliever Josh Ravin placed on the 15-day disabled list with right triceps inflammation.
McCarthy, as expected, went on the DL with a stiff right hip, not to mention the overriding issue of sudden and inexplicable wildness.
Ravin was replaced in the bullpen by the recall of Brock Stewart, who was pressed into emergency long-relief action by the second inning on Sunday and responded with three scoreless innings. A spot on the 40-man roster for Anderson was created by designating for assignment outfielder Zach Walters.
