Trumbo’s 33rd HR powers O’s past Giants

SAN FRANCISCO — Mark Trumbo sent a towering blast into the left-field bleachers for his 33rd home run and the Orioles collectively jumped on Matt Cain early, generating five runs on 11 hits in the first five innings as part of a convincing 5-2 series-opening win Friday over the Giants at AT&T Park.

The Orioles, who entered the series with a Major League-best 172 home runs, flexed their muscles and added to that total with two Friday. Trumbo hit a two-run blast in the third and Chris Davis hit a solo home run in the fifth off Cain, who has now allowed multiple home runs in three of his five outings since returning from the disabled list. Cain hadn’t allowed a run in his last two appearances entering this start. But he lacked command Friday and exited after pitching just four-plus innings.
