Teoscar homers for 1st hit in stellar debut

TORONTO — Teoscar Hernandez’s whirlwind day ended with a big smile, as the 23-year-old outfielder had a Major League debut to remember.
Hernandez slammed his first career hit in grand fashion — taking left-hander Francisco Liriano over the left-field wall for a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning — and finished his evening 2-for-4 to help the Astros come away with a 5-3 victory on Friday.
“It means a lot to me,” Hernandez said about his first big league home run. “Liriano’s one of the best pitchers in the Major Leagues, and to get my first hit and my first home run against him is so exciting for me.”
The youngster found out about his callup in the early hours of the morning on Friday from Triple-A Fresno manager Tony DeFrancesco, and he proceeded to take an early flight to Salt Lake City, then up to …
