Toyota’s expanding footprint and domination of NASCAR doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.
The manufacturer has a stranglehold on all three top divisions this year with Toyota drivers responsible for the majority of wins across the board. For those keeping score at home, it breaks down to 11 Sprint Cup wins, 13 XFINITY Series victories and seven in the Camping World Truck Series.
It’s been quite the ascension for the manufacturer, who saw its introduction to the Sprint Cup Series marred by the controversy over Michael Waltrip’s illegal jet fuel at the 2007 Daytona 500 and several seasons of sub-par performance.
But that was then and this is definitely now. This year’s impressive numbers were added to on Sunday at Watkins Glen International by Denny Hamlin, who scored his second win of the season and first on a road course.
