Swihart to have season-ending ankle surgery

BOSTON — After many high hopes of a possible return, Red Sox outfielder Blake Swihart is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on his left ankle.
“He’s going have surgery with Dr. [Robert] Anderson in North Carolina. That’s going to be set up in the coming days, but that’s been determined tonight,” Red Sox manager John Farrell said after his club’s 5-3 win over the Yankees on Tuesday.
