Forsythe tormenting Blue Jays’ pitchers

TORONTO — Logan Forsythe might have trouble getting through customs when the Rays travel north of the border in September to play the Blue Jays.

The Rays’ second baseman has blistered Blue Jays pitching this season. In Tuesday night’s 9-2 win over the Blue Jays, Forsythe hit a leadoff home run as part of a three-hit night.

Forsythe and the Rays were facing nemesis Marco Estrada, who was making his first start of the season against the Rays after dominating in his three starts against them in 2015. In those outings, he once came within five outs of pitching a perfect game and he allowed just eight hits and two runs while striking out 24 in 23 1/3 innings.

Forsythe ended any perfect-game suspense with an opposite-field homer on the fourth pitch of the game.

“I knew I hit it pretty well,” Forsythe said. “I didn’t know if it would get out. It was a good way to jumpstart the game.”
