Slavin, Canes and Lenovo to Volunteer Thursday at Boys and Girls Clubs in Raleigh

RALEIGH, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes and Lenovo, #1 computer maker globally, will partner to volunteer at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County field day on Thursday, Aug. 11, from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin, team President Don Waddell and team mascot Stormy will join staff from the Hurricanes and Lenovo in assisting and running activities that promote healthy lifestyles to celebrate the partnership between the organizations.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County were a Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation GOAL grant recipient in 2013, and will have received a total of $150,000 from the foundation over three years for the Project Power Play initiative. The program is focusing on assisting the 45 most at-risk students in the organization, and includes the hiring of an academic intervention manager. …
