Eight gymnastics finals for Team GB men in Rio

The Team GB men’s gymnastics team put in some confident performances to ensure eight finals on the first day of the gymnastics at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The team of Max Whitlock, Louis Smith MBE, Brinn Bevan, Nile Wilson and Kristian Thomas finished with a total of 268.670 to place 5th behind China (270.461), the USA (270.405), Russia (269.612) and Japan (269.294) to successfully make the team final taking place on Monday evening. Individually, Nile Wilson was the top all-around scorer for GB with 89.240 placing 5th after some confident performances which will see him into Wednesday’s all-around final. He also posted a world class 15.500 on the high bar, making the final in 2nd place. Max Whitlock also made the all-around final in 12th with 88.232 but will look to improve on his score after having to count falls on vault and high bar.
