Shergar Cup Dash
Paul Midgley – Line Of Reason (Kenichi Ikezoe) and Ninjago (Emma-Jayne Wilson)
“I think Line Of Reason has got to have a massive chance. He was very unlucky in the King George at Goodwood last week – I don’t know whether he’d have won, but he’d definitely have been in the money and he’s come out of it fresh and well.
“He was rated 111 last year and he’s 105 now, but I don’t think he’s regressed, he just hasn’t had his ground.
“It’s the same old story with him – if he can get a fast pace, some cover and something to aim at – I think he should run a very big race.
“Ninjago’s best run for us was over five furlongs and he’s in good form and ready to go.
“He wouldn’t be good enough to beat Line Of Reason, I wouldn’t have thought, but it’s a horse race and anything can happen.
“They’re both well handicapped and as long as one of them comes up with the goods we’ll be happy.”
Jeremy Gask – Medicean Man (Frankie Dettori)
“We’d have preferred to have been drawn in the middle of them as he’s a horse that desperately needs cover in his races, but other than that we’re happy.
“It’s great to have Frankie riding and the horse seems in very good form.
“He ran a fantastic at Royal Ascot on ground that didn’t suit him and he just couldn’t get any cover on his last run.
“Hopefully, if the ground stays good, he’ll run a good race.”
Gary Moore – Dutch Masterpiece (Josephine Gordon)
“He was very unlucky at Goodwood. He travelled nicely and was left short of room but he ran his race.
“He was one of the few horses of mine that did run well. I am happy with him and he has run well at Ascot before.
“Any rain that falls the better as he wants genuine good ground.”
Ken Condon – In Salutem (Thierry Jarnet)
“He’s a sprinter in form and has been running very consistently at home.
“There’s a lack of opportunities in Ireland for him at the moment, so we had a look at this and we thought the small field and stiff track would suit him.
“I was glad to see the rain earlier in the week as he’s not a horse that would want fast ground.
“Thierry Jarnet is a jockey we’ve all been watching for years, he’s a very good rider and we’re happy to have him.”
Shergar Cup Stayers
Ralph Beckett – Green Light (Silvestre de Sousa)
“We’re stepping him up in trip and his style of racing suggests that could well suit him.
“We’re lucky to have landed on Silvestre de Sousa and hopefully he’ll run well.”
Marcus Tregoning – Serena Grae (Oisin Murphy)
“She’s in good form and I think she’ll definitely stay.
“I’m pleased to have Oisin Murphy riding and hopefully she’s got a good, solid chance.
“She’ s quite a tough mare who takes her race well and I don’t think she’s too worried about the ground.”
