Wood Brothers Racing has unveiled its throwback paint scheme for next month’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
The design is a tribute to the 1976 Mercury that David Pearson drove to victory in NASCAR’s unofficial “Triple Crown” that Bicentennial year four decades ago.
With crew chief Leonard Wood calling the shots, Pearson won the Daytona 500, World 600 and the Southern 500 that season, during which he totaled 10 victories in all.
