No setback for Tony Romo, but Cowboys QB will not practice Sunday

OXNARD, Calif. – Tony Romo did not take part in Sunday’s walkthrough and will not practice later today as the Dallas Cowboys work their plan to make sure the veteran quarterback is as close to perfect as possible when the season starts Sept. 11 against the New York Giants.
Since undergoing two back surgeries in 2013, Romo has taken days off but never this early in training camp. With the Cowboys in pads for the first time on Monday and a scheduled off day for the team coming Wednesday, Romo and the team thought it was best to sit Sunday.
Coach Jason Garrett said the decision to sit Romo had nothing to do with a flare up of the back injuries or his left collarbone, which was broken twice last season and required surgery in March.
