ATP TORONTO: Djokovic edges Muller in straights. Karlovic stuns Cilic while Harrison prevails against Isner

World number 1 and 3-tome Canada Open champion, Novak Djokovic, started his quest for 30th Masters 1000 crown against Gilles Muller, beating the player from Luxembourg 7-5 7-6 to reach the 3rd round. It wasn’t the best opening match for Novak, but most importantly for him, he passed the tough opponent in straight sets, scoring one break more than Muller. As could have been expected, Gilles’ weaker second serve was pushed by Djokovic, but despite that element Muller managed to be neck and neck in both sets, firing 11 aces and saving 2 out of 5 break points. Novak sailed through the opening set in his service games, losing just 5 points, however, Muller also played well to stay in touch, mixing some good serves with nice attacks and volleys, reaching 5-5 without bigger problems.
Still, Novak finally broke his rival in game 11, showing some sublime returns, and he finished the set on own serve, taking it 7-5. In the 3rd game …
