James Dempsey Wins Grand Prix Poker Tour Brighton

James “Flushy” Demspey topped a field of more than 2,100 entrants to get his hands on the $40,000 first place prize in the partypoker Grand Prix Poker Tour Brighton Main Event.
The 224 surviving players from the multiple online and live Day 1s combined on the afternoon of July 24, each having locked up $330 for their initial $109 investment. Several players were in possession of a Golden Chip, a promotional item awarding its holder an addition $50,000 cash if they won the Main Event.
After four hours of action, those 224 Day 2 players were reduced to the final table of nine, with Michael Boyd falling in 10th place.
Grand Prix Poker Tour Brighton Final Table
Jaraslaw Szwarc went into the final table as the shortest stack stack, and was ultimately the first casualty of the final table.
Szwarc committed his chips with ace-ten and Dempsey called with the dominating ace-jack of spades. Neither player improved by the river, and Dempsey’s jack-kicker came into play, busting Szwarc.
