Chapman reportedly going to Cubs The Cubs have agreed to a deal with the Yankees to acquire fireballing reliever Aroldis Chapman for a multiplayer package, according to a report by MLB Network’s Jon Heyman. Neither team has confirmed the report. Heyman tweeted that New York will acquire shortstop Gleyber Torres, outfielder Billy McKinney, right-hander Adam Warren and likely one more player. Torres is the Cubs’ No. 1-ranked prospect, while McKinney is ranked No. 5 in their system. More >
Mets making a run at Lucroy Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy has been a frequent subject of trade rumors, even prior to this summer, and the Mets appear to be one of the clubs now pursuing the two-time All-Star. The New York Daily News reported on Sunday that the defending National League champions are one of “several” in contention for Lucroy, citing a pair of industry sources.
The Mets are willing to part with their catcher, Travis d’Arnaud, according to the report, but the Brewers apparently want a top prospect added to the deal. Lucroy has a good reputation behind the plate and is enjoying a resurgent season with the bat, hitting .301/.362/.491 with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs.
