Cubs’ bullpen revamp could include Chapman

MILWAUKEE — The Cubs did add former closer Joe Nathan to the bullpen this weekend, but that may be a minor fix if the team makes a big splash and acquires hard-throwing closer Aroldis Chapman.
There were reports Sunday night that the Cubs and Yankees were finalizing a trade which would send Chapman to Chicago in exchange for top prospect Gleyber Torres, 19. Ranked No. 1 among the Cubs’ top 30 prospects, according to MLB.com, Torres was scheduled to start Sunday night for Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach, but the shortstop was a late scratch. He was batting .275 in 94 games with the Pelicans.
The Cubs would not confirm the trade rumors.
Chapman, 28, is 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA in 31 appearances and 20 for 21 in save opportunities in his first season with the Yankees after spending six years with the Reds. Chapman began this season serving a 30-game suspension covered by Major League Baseball’s domestic …
