At 34 years and seven months, Italian Paolo Lorenzi became the oldest player to win his first ATP title, surpassing the previous record of 34 years and six months marked by Victor Estrella Burgos in February this year, in Quito. Lorenzo is also the first Italian to be crowned champion of a tournament in the ATP tour since February 2014, when in Vina del Mar his countryman Fabio Fognini won the title.
