Rooney backs Allardyce hiring

England’s all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney thinks Sam Allardyce will be a “good appointment” as manager and insists he will not retire from international football.
And Rooney, who captained the team under former boss Roy Hodgson, has reiterated that there is no question of him retiring from the international game.
Allardyce’s appointment was confirmed on Friday and the experienced manager has been handed an initial two-year deal.
