Taillon stays in after line drive hits head

PITTSBURGH — After being struck in the back of the head by a line drive, Pirates rookie Jameson Taillon quickly returned to the mound Tuesday night.
Pitching with one out and nobody on base in the second inning at PNC Park, Taillon threw a 94-mph fastball to Brewers third baseman Hernan Perez. The ball came off Perez’s bat at 105 mph, according to Statcast™, and caromed off the back of Taillon’s head into left field.
Taillon immediately fell at the base of the mound, lying on his back as athletic trainers Todd Tomczyk and Ben Potenziano rushed onto the field. …
