LauriMarkkanen Group ALithuania – Hungary 128-69Lithuania celebrated the first win in Helsinki. They thrashed Hungary for 1-1 record in Group A. Eight players scored in double figures for the winners. Laurynas Birutis (215-C/F-97) netted 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Baltic team. Lithuania unleashed 60 points in the first half to open a 27-point halftime lead. Lithuania followed with a 41-point effort in the third term and run away for good. Martynas Varnas (196-G/F-97) totaled 17 points for the winning side. Balint Mocsan (193-G-97) accounted for 32 points for Hungary.Germany – Turkey 63-67Turkey knocked down Germany for the second straight victory in Group A. Yigit Arslan (195-SG-96, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 15 points to lead the winners. Turkey accounted for a 22:11 lead after ten minutes. But Germany used a 28:12 surge to gain a 39:34 halftime lead. Germany extended the gap at 8-point mark at the final intermission. Turkey responded with a 23:11 rally in the fourth term and iced the victory. Omer Yurtseven (213-F/C-98) provided 14 points for the winning side. Andreas Obst (192-SG-96, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 17 points for Germany.Group BFrance – Israel 66-86Israel stormed past France for the second straight win in Group B. Six players scored in double digits for the winners. Daniel Koperberg (208-F-97) topscored with 21 points for Israel. They drove to a 44:32 halftime lead.
