22-year-old Garbine Muguruza from Spain is the new Roland Garros champion, after she defeated 21-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams by 7-5 6-4, playing a brave and clinical match from start to finish! Thus, the world number 4 becomes the first player from Spain with Grand Slam crown since Arantxa Sánchez Vicario won her 4th and last title here at Roland Garros in 1998.
