Penguins Take Commanding 2-0 Series Lead

After losing their lead with 4:05 remaining in the 3rd period, the Penguins bounced back in overtime to defeat the Sharks 2-1 and take a 2-0 series lead. Conor Sheary scored the winner 2:35 into the extra period, becoming the fifth rookie to score an OT goal in the Stanley Cup final, according to Elias research.
The goal was Sheary’s first overtime goal between college, the AHL and the NHL.
Talk about good timing.

Sheary’s game-winner in overtime was his first career game-winning postseason goal. With the goal, he became the first rookie to score an OT goal in the Stanley Cup final since Brian Skrudland in 1986 for the Canadiens, according to Elias research.
