Crew places Blazek on DL with sore elbow

MILWAUKEE — The Brewers placed reliever Michael Blazek on the disabled list with a sore right elbow and recalled reliever Jacob Barnes from Triple-A Colorado Springs following Wednesday’s 3-1 win over the Cardinals.
Blazek, who last pitched on Saturday and gave up five runs in 2/3 of an inning, said there was swelling and inflammation in his arm following that outing. Barnes, 26, had an impressive showing in hitter-friendly Colorado Springs during the first two months of the season, owning a 1.21 ERA in 22 1/3 innings.
